All tiles are handpainted with brightly colored underglazes and covered with a glossy clear glaze before being fired.  Each tile is securely adhered to a high quality wooden frame.  The tiles can be used as trivets - the frames have soft foam pads on the bottom to avoid scratching your table.  If you want to hang your tile on the wall (this is what I do!), there is a convenient hole in the top of the back of the frame to do so!
